Share Your Posts to the Right Social Network
The best way to get more eyes on your blog is to share it to social media. But do you know how to share your posts to the right social network? While you may be familiar with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, there are many more social sites out there. Do you use Tumblr? Have you considered sharing on Vine or Reddit? How do you determine which sites are best to spend your time and money?
Know Your Prospect
What is your ideal customer doing on the Internet? Consider these questions when deciding which social networks to use: Are your prospects…
- Searching for a specific destination?
- Asking friends and strangers for recommendations on great places to visit?
- Looking at images of places they may want to visit?
- Keeping up-to-date on news and occasionally thinking about travel?
Where is Your Prospect Hanging Out?
For example, you work for a travel company that specializes in destination bachelor parties. As a travel company, you have a highly visible product to sell. Some of the more visual social networks are Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr.
Your ideal traveler is male, aged 25 to 50. Where does he spend his time online? For your company, Instagram is probably the best network to share visuals. Just over half of its users are male and it’s fairly popular in the 18 to 39-year-old demographic. Pinterest is probably not the place to share, as 81% of its users are women. Tumblr is similarly a poor choice, as most of its demographic are under 25.
Facebook and Twitter are still the most popular social networks. They have a wide reach to a wide variety of people. However, if your company operates in a niche that works better for visuals or slide decks, you should look at other options.
Some options include Instagram, edocr, SlideShare and many others. Each of these social media networks has a very different reach. Think deeply about where your prospect hangs out before choosing your social media channels.
Create content relevant for your reader, no matter where you share your posts. For example, if Pinterest is the best place for your post, then use it. But be sure to direct your content to your target audience. Those bachelors may be hanging out on Instagram, but they aren’t interested in pictures of nail salons.
